Getting the List of Shots From Your Browser Into Excel.
The best way to archive your tapes is logging them on FCP.

Very simple. Just log the tape roughly using the log & capture feature.

Do a batch export: In Final Cut Pro go to [file][export][batch list...]

Open that in Excel.

You'll have a very clean report (no Time Code human errors) with the description of your scenes etc.
Copy the entire project and Excel pages to a CD or other media to have a permanent back up.

EvoCam - A webcam using your Canon GL2 and a Mac.
I just found the easiest way to use your Canon GL2 as a webcam.

This software is so easy to use even a baby could install it!

These are the 3 steps I took to get my webcam going.

1. Download and copy the EvoCam software to your applications folder.
2. Open up EvoCam. Under the Options tab, set "Save image locally" to a folder on your .mac disk. I chose sites/webcam.
3. Copy the webcam.html file to your .mac sites/webcam folder.

That's it!

All you have to do now is attach your GL2 with the Firewire cable to your Mac. Then in EvoCam choose the refresh rate. If you want to select an image to display on your webcam, just click the 'Now" button and that image will be your webcam image.
